Service Description

Holotropic breathwork was first discovered as a therapeutic process to help clients process trauma without experiencing emotional pain. With holotropic breathwork therapy, breathing patterns are used to access the unconscious — a part of the brain and central nervous system that is usually inaccessible. Holotropic breathwork therapy is used to achieve an altered state of consciousness through breathing exercises that locate repressed memories. Holotropic breathwork therapy is used to achieve an altered state of consciousness through breathing exercises that locate repressed memories in the unconscious. These sessions can be done one-on-one but are typically done in a group format. Before beginning, a “breather” and a “sitter” are assigned. The breather is the client participating in the breathing exercises, while the sitter is available to assist the breather if necessary but will not interfere. A trained professional will also be there to facilitate the activities. In one session, the breather will lie down, close their eyes and alternate long and short breaths for a specified amount of time. Rhythmic music will play throughout the session. During the exercise, the client may feel a tingling sensation partnered with a mind-body connection and clarity as they confront troubling issues.
